Well, I personally can't 'stand' feet (no pun intended - but it was a good one!) I'm not talking about our own feet...I'm talking about the curriculum company called "Beautiful Feet". Our history books for the fall arrived from them today. We are going to do the Medieval history pack for Lionel. He studied Medieval history before, but this time the books are suited for high school grades. Here's what he's going to be reading...
Scottish Chiefs
Ivanhoe
Canterbury Tales
Luther
Marco Polo
Shakespeare (King John & Henry VIII)
It doesn't sound like much, but believe me, it will take the whole year to get through them! The books are quite heavy...in looks (they're fatter) and in quality! It should be a fun year though! Lionel loves history, and Medieval history is right up his alley. There's a great medieval place (museum/hands on) not far from us too, so we will have to plan a visit.
Sweet-Pea was going to do the Teaching Character Primary Pack, but I changed my mind. She will do that in 3rd grade. Instead for 2nd grade she will be doing the History of Horses pack. She is SO into horses lately and I thought that it would be a great time to do this pack. Her books include:
Black Beauty
The Black Stallion
Brighty of the Grand Canyon
Handbook of Horses
King of the Wind
Justin Morgan Had a Horse
Misty of Chincoteaque
Mustang, Wild Spirit of the West
White Stallion of Lipizza
Draw 50 Horses
Horses of the World Card Set
She was very excited to peek through her books already. She recently started to watch the TV show The Saddle Club. She loves watching the horses. Maybe by the end of this next school year I can find a good place to take her riding - just for fun!
Now...we just need to finish their material for this year so I can plan for the fall. We are still behind in some areas, so the kids won't get much of a break this summer. They're fine with it. We'll play in the mornings when it's cooler outside, and work on our schooling when it's gets hotter. The pool will be their reward! Mine too!!

Those look like great books, I'm sure the kids can't wait to start!
