All that said, Dad is a fighter. He will often surprise us once in a while and have a really great day. Also, by God's grace, he still knows who we are!!! The Alzheimer's disease has totally destroyed his memory, but when we walk into the room to visit with him, his face still lights up and he calls us by name...even when it's difficult for him to get the words out. He is more like a child now than ever. He is totally dependent on those caring for him, and he has no idea how to do things for himself. He doesn't know how to chose his words and often finds it frustrating that he doesn't know how to say what he's thinking. It's very sad to see.
Because of Dad's condition, I can't help but think of the Scripture passages that say:
"Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal." 2 Corinthians 4:16-18
"I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us." Romans 8:18
Dad's favorite verse is I Corinthians 2:9 "However, as it is written: "No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind has conceived what God has prepared for those who love him." God is definitely preparing a home for Dad. As soon as it's ready, Dad will hear the call.
We are now praying for the Lord to call him home quickly and peacefully. Please continue to pray with me for Dad. Thanks!

Praying for you. :)
I'll keep your Dad and your family in my prayers. How wonderful for you to know that he has a strong faith, it makes times like this so much easier to bear.
