Friday Faves - Christmas Carol

Friday Faves: Christmas Carol

Even though it's not a 'carol' by most standards, my favorite Christmas 'song' hands down is "Mary Did You Know" by Mark Lowry (lyrics) and Buddy Green (music). It's not only a beautiful song musically, but the words are very powerful!! The very first time I heard this song was in 1995. My son played baby Jesus (he was just 3 months old - his acting debut!) and they sang this song as 'Mary' and 'Joseph' sat with my son in the manger. I cried then, and I still get teary-eyed now when I hear it.
Here's a video of Mark singing it along with the lyrics. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do!

Mary did you know that your baby boy would some day walk on water?
Mary did you know that your baby boy would save our sons and daughters?
Did you know that your baby boy has come to make you new?
This child that you've delivered, will soon deliver you.

Mary did you know that your baby boy would give sight to a blind man?
Mary did you know that your baby boy would calm a storm with his hand?
Did you know that your baby boy has walked where angels trod?
And when your kiss your little baby, you've kissed the face of God.

The blind will see, the deaf will hear, the dead will live again.
The lame will leap, the dumb will speak, the praises of the lamb---.

Mary did you know that your baby boy is Lord of all creation?
Mary did you know that your baby boy would one day rule the nations?
Did you know that your baby boy is heaven's perfect Lamb?
This sleeping child you're holding is the great--I--- AM---.

Wow, this is one of the best versions I've ever heard. Amazing!
